How Do You Stop a Negative Manifestation?

One of the most groundbreaking revelations I found out in my life was that negative thoughts lead to negative manifestations.

Our thoughts create our reality. Not just the thoughts about what we want, but also the thoughts about those things we want to avoid. Negative things show up in our physical reality as a result of focusing on the wrong outcome with the wrong emotion or holding on to past negative beliefs.

The good news is that we can consciously create our reality, that is, shift our focus away from negativity and get rid of the patterns that cause unwanted things to show up.

It took me a lot of research and practice after learning about the law of attraction to figure out how to stop a negative manifestation, and how to clear up my mental diet to eliminate unwanted things showing up in my reality altogether.

My biggest, most flawless, most successful manifestation so far, has been my breakup with my long-term partner. It wasn’t a conscious one. In fact, it happened before I learnt about the law of attraction and, as you might have already guessed, it was unwanted. It was a negative manifestation. One of the most painful events of my life, and that I brought into my life through unknowingly applying with precision some of the most important manifesting rules: what you focus on grows, like attracts like, assuming something and persisting on the false assumption will eventually make it harden into reality.

I have suffered from anxiety, insecurities, and fear of abandonment most of my life, a result of multiple events of my early life that still affect me today, as is the case for most of us. These fears and negative thoughts which I had also repeatedly shared with my partner, always receiving the reassurance that they were unfounded, eventually led to the end of our relationship in the exact ways I had feared, expected, even accidentally visualized. I witnessed in shock as my partner said things and acted in ways in which they’d reassured me they never intended to.

At the time I almost felt I had a weird ability to see the future – I didn’t yet know that I created it. I lost my faith in relationships (the same pattern had also appeared in other relationships with friends and family), assured myself that people leave and so you must never trust them or become attached, because you’re bound to get hurt.

As it often happens, I found out about the Law of Attraction while seeking answers and I got them. It was obvious that I had created my negative reality. However, that also meant that I could create a positive reality. It was one of the most liberating moments of my life.

I learnt that we create everything we focus on with persistence, whether we want it or fear it. I found out that “everyone is you pushed out”, meaning that people mirror the beliefs I have about myself and my relationships. I then moved on to heal several relationships in my life by shifting my focus to what I believe about myself and other people. I realized that whatever showed up in my reality was a result of previous thoughts and beliefs.

I had to change my way of thinking in order to stop the cycle of negative manifestations. But how does one stop negative thinking when they’ve been conditioned to it all their lives?

Become aware

If we experience unwanted things in our physical reality, the answer is not out there. We need to look within and ask ourselves: what thoughts do I have about this particular person, situation, or aspect of my life?

Ask yourself: How do I feel?

These thoughts might not be obvious or easily detectable. We may need to scratch the surface, do some self-reflection, and start noticing recurring patterns or locate deeply rooted subconscious beliefs we hold about the world. It might be constant feelings of worry, doubt and anxiety that shape our entire thinking process.

Realizing how we feel, what we think, and how we react to different situations is the first step towards change.

Track the root of the emotional response

The second question you need to ask yourself is: Why do I feel this way?

In many cases, before moving to the next step of trying to flip our negative thoughts to positive affirmations, it is helpful to find the root of the problem. We may affirm “I am hired in a new, perfect job” and even attract job opportunities, but if we have a foundation of low self-esteem and insecurities, negative thoughts will creep in about our competency or our interview skills.

Manifesting anything we desire into our lives requires:

  • a strong foundation of self-love
  • self-acceptance
  • forgiving ourselves for the mistakes of the past
  • healing from past trauma and undoing its effects through revision

One helpful technique would be to start noticing our triggers, that is, events or situations that lead to negative thoughts or feelings. Then, we can begin to track the way we react to them, the thoughts and beliefs that awaken automatically. The triggers will remain, but we will practice reacting to them in alternate ways.

As Morty and Shelly Lefkoe taught us, founders of the Lefkoe Institute and The Lefkoe Method for eliminating limiting beliefs, that we shouldn’t react to reality, but to change our interpretation of it. We give meaning to everything. Therefore, if we choose to change what we believe about things, our reactions to them will change, and so will our old reality.

Shift your focus to what you want

A mistake we often do is focus on what we don’t want with negative emotions, praying and hoping that it won’t happen. Unfortunately, the universe doesn’t discriminate on positive or negative feelings. It just shows us what we focus on.

Here’s what you want to do instead:

Ask yourself: what do I want?

It’s that simple! Ask yourself what you’d want to experience in your reality and start replacing all thoughts that create worry, anxiety and doubt with thoughts of the situation you want to experience! Visualize, script, affirm, persist, until your desired outcome feels like it’s already done.

No matter what is going on in your physical reality, ignore it and persist on the end goal.

Don’t focus on the money you (don’t) have in the bank, but on the feeling of being debt-free. Ignore the lack of texts or calls on your phone and assume the feeling of being loved coming from inside of you!

Sometimes the opposite of what you want may start to appear first. Abraham Hicks talks about contrast and teaches us to use it to figure out what we don’t want in order to persist on what we do want! Contrast is useful, so thank it, embrace it, and learn from it! One of my favorite book from Esther & Jerry Hicks that I consider a must-read is The Vortex, this book goes into mind-blowing details of the law of attraction and assist you with being in control of your thoughts.

Don’t go to sleep with negative thoughts. Revise them.

In Feeling Is The Secret, Neville Goddard teaches us that we can revise past experiences that weren’t to our liking in order to stop their effects from showing up to our future. Even though changing the past sounds crazier and more far-fetched than any other technique, when I finally decided to use it, it worked wonders! That is because revision erases the pain and suffering of the past within us, creating a clean slate for our new reality!

Never take negativity with you in your sleep. Change your story and fall asleep in the desired state, because sleep helps it imprint on your subconscious mind.

Don’t say “I want” but “I am”.

Saying “I want more money” keeps the focus on the feeling of wanting more money, that is, the feeling of not having it yet. Thus, the lack of money keeps manifesting in your reality. You want to assume the feeling of already being wealthy.

Affirm “I am wealthy”, “I love my new car”, “I am in a wonderful relationship”, instead of focusing on those feelings of longing and scarcity. Our visualization videos are great resources.

Don’t give power to your negative thoughts.

Paying attention to your negative thoughts is important, but you can also decide that they are powerless. Say to yourself: negative thoughts do not manifest! They are just here to show me what I really want. Don’t freak out when they come, because that creates more resistance. Just let them pass, observe them, and tell them: you can’t hurt me! I don’t fear you!

You are the creator of your own reality and you create your rules!

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to change the way you view things, your mind may produce obsessive thoughts or persist on negativity. The bigger the goal and the more unreachable it seems from where you’re standing, the bigger the resistance. When you feel stuck and frustrated, you might end up believing it’s impossible to cleanse your life from negativity.

At those times the best thing you can do is surrender and let go. That doesn’t mean giving up on your desire. Rather, it means letting go of the effort to control the process, to find out how and from where the solution will arrive.

Figuring out the way your manifestation will unfold is not your job. Your job is asking, feeling, and allowing it to come to you. Stop looking for results. Stop complaining to your friends or inside your head. Take that leap of faith and stop giving all that energy and effort to your manifestation.

Distract yourself:

  • Do something that you love.
  • Watch a funny movie.
  • Be in the moment when you work or study.
  • Hang out with friends and family. Radiate love to others.
  • Practice a hobby.
  • Keep your body and mind busy.
  • Remember that the Universe always has your back! By letting go you’ll stop suffocating your desire and you’ll let it breathe and come to life.
For many people their manifestation finally hatches when they stop trying too hard.

Don’t push yourself too hard! Habitual negative thought patterns take time to disintegrate and allow space for change. Don’t compare your process to others’. Be patient and nurture yourself. You’re doing this for you. It won’t always be easy, but I promise that you’ll get there, and after you do, no one will be able to take away that power from you!

You’ve got this! Believe in yourself, because you are the creator of your dreams!
